Saturday of Lazarus the Righteous - April 16, 2022

10:00 a.m. St. Lazarus The Righteous Divine Liturgy

Theme: The fourth day raising of Lazarus from the dead, as the pledge of the universal resurrection of mankind.

Work day follows to prepare the church for Palm Sunday and Holy Week


Palm Sunday - April 17, 2022

8:50 am Matins (with Blessing of Palms)

10:00 a.m. Divine Liturgy (Procession with palms).

Theme: The triumphant entry of our Lord into Jerusalem before his voluntary death. “We like the children carry the palms of victory” in Procession. Palms will be blessed and distributed to the faithful for the Procession.

6:30 p.m. Bridegroom Service

Theme: The righteous Joseph (of the Old Testament) and the Fig Tree, which was cursed by the Lord. The Procession with the icon of Christ, the Bridegroom of the Church, takes place.


Holy Monday - April 18, 2022

6:30 p.m. Readers Bridegroom Service

Theme: The ten virgins waiting for the Bridegroom


Holy Tuesday - April 19, 2022

6:30 p.m. Readers Bridegroom Service

Theme: The woman who anointed the head and feet of our Lord with myrrh, wiping them with her hair, contrasted with the treachery of Judas and his betrayal of Christ.


Holy Wednesday - April 20, 2022

6:30 p.m. Service of Holy Unction

Theme: Repentance and healing of soul and body. The Sacrament is administered only to Orthodox Christians.


Holy Thursday - April 21, 2022

10:00 a.m. Vesperal Divine Liturgy of St Basil

Theme: the Lord’s Supper, when Jesus ate the Passover with his disciples.

6:30 p.m. Passion Service, Great & Holy Thursday (Reading of the Twelve Gospels)

Theme: The Passion of our Lord and the confession of the thief. Procession with the Cross commemorates Christ’s voluntary Crucifixion.


Great & Holy Friday - April 22, 2022

3:00 p.m. Great & Holy Friday Great Vespers

Theme: The trial and crucifixion of Christ. We should all make an effort to spend this day in Church, heeding our Lord’s words to “watch and pray”. Children may be excused from school. During Vespers, Christ is taken down from the cross and placed in the decorated tomb.

6:30 p.m. Great & Holy Friday Evening, Lamentations and Procession with the Bier

Theme: the Burial of Christ by Joseph of Arimathea, Nicodemus and the Myrrh-bearing Women. We sing the glorious Hymns of Praise of the buried Christ, and we process with the Bier.


Great & Holy Saturday – April 23, 2022

10:00 a.m. Great and Holy Saturday Divine Liturgy

Theme: The Victory of Christ over death and his glorious Resurrection. This is truly the most beautiful and ancient service the Orthodox Church knows.

10:30 p.m. Holy Pascha Service of Rush, Matins & Holy Resurrection

Theme: The renewal of Creation in the Light of Christ’s Resurrection. The new Light is distributed to the faithful, who carry it in procession. The Church is re-consecrated, and we enter to celebrate the Divine Liturgy.


Sunday - The Great and Holy Pascha – April 24, 2022

1:00 p.m. Agape Service

Theme: The Good News (Gospel) of the Resurrection will be proclaimed in as many languages as possible.

English: Christ is Risen! Indeed He is Risen

Greek: Kristos Anesti! Alithos Anesti!

Arabic: Al Maseeh Qam! Haqan Qam!

Slavonic: Khristos Voskresey! Voyistinu Voskresey!

Romanian: Kristos a Inviat! Adeverat a Inviat!
